Expanding vocabulary

Emma heard the phrase "throw someone under the bus" on a TV game show, and asked what it meant. She seems to have picked up the concept, because later in the day, the following exchange occurred:

Owen: "Mama said we weren't going out like we were going to, because Emma wasn't listening to her."

Emma: "Owen! Don't throw me under the bus!"

I wonder how often I will hear that phrase now….
